This series is an incredible read. It grabs onto you from the very first sentence and holds on tight til the very last. This story is incredibly captivating, and the characters are all abstractly alien, yet comfortably familiar. I found myself asking many questions early on, as I often read with pretensions. At first I thought it was a bit too outlandish, had too much going on, and I didn’t feel as though I was being introduced to the characters well enough. My doubts were quickly silenced. I’d recommend this book to anyone, as it is a fantastic work of fiction on its own, while also bringing our collective troubles into an action packed sci-fi steam punk extravaganza, and as bombastic as the story is, it also has incredibly dark undertones, exploring topics such as addiction, death, love, hate, heartbreak, mental health, and the concept of the haves and have nots in ways that hit really close to home. Nicoline Evans created a world that whisks the reader away into a world of her own creation, that speaks volumes to interpersonal connections, as well as the greater troubles we face as a society. It was a real treat to meet her in person, and an even greater treat to have been able to read her stories. Not to mention she does all her own art work! Ok I’m done fan girling now go buy the books
